The Grosso® Reshaper is a novel, investigational medical device designed to treat Keratoconus by mechanically restoring the cornea to its natural shape.
Key features:
Purpose: This intra-corneal implant is engineered to treat the progressive corneal thinning and bulging caused by Keratoconus, a condition that leads to distorted vision.
Technology: It is made from nitinol, a shape-memory alloy that is designed to restore and maintain the cornea's physiological curvature.
Targeted condition: The device aims to provide a solution for Keratoconus, especially in cases where current treatments fall short of predictably and uniformly reshaping the cornea.
Developer: It is the flagship product of Recornea, an Italian medical technology company that specializes in innovative ophthalmic solutions.
Current status: The Grosso® Reshaper is an investigational device that is not yet available for sale, as it is currently undergoing First-in-Human clinical trials to evaluate its safety and efficacy.
Pioneering the Future of Ophthalmology.
RECORNEA pioneers advanced medical solutions for diseases of the eye.
The GROSSO® Reshaper is a patented ground-breaking solution in the form of an advanced intra-corneal implant, made out of nitinol, a shape memory alloy with a long history of being developed as a medical device for the use in the human body.
The GROSSO® Reshaper is designed to mimic the normal anatomic curvature of a healthy cornea. When inserted in a circular corneal pocket, the implant's aim is to predictably improve vision in patients with stage 2, 3 and 4 Keratoconus by mechanically restoring and maintaining the normal anatomic shape of the cornea and eliminating the bulging caused by the condition.
The GROSSO® device is for investigational use only, and not yet available for sale.
